INTRODUCTION 1
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Have you ever been frustrated by Netware printing? If the answer is
YES, then you know that sharing a plotter on a Netware network is even
more difficult.
Plot Manager is a complete plotter management system / plot server for
Netware networks. It allows users to place plot jobs in a standard
Netware queue. The user then has complete control of the plot jobs at the
plotter console. Jobs can be plotted in any order, paused, restarted,
rewound, canceled and replotted any number of times.
Plot Manager literally takes only a few minutes to set-up. A
supervisor or supervisor equivalent user can set all queue and server
configuration options automatically by using Plot Manager, or manually
by the using the standard Netware PCONSOLE utility.
This is a demo version of Plot Manager. It is the same as the
production version in all ways except that it will only handle plot
jobs under 10K bytes in size. This will allow you to see the power and
flexibility of Plot Manager.
This demo program can be freely copied and passed on to others as
long as all files are intact and are not modified in any way.
If you find this software useful and would like to obtain the
production version, please print the file ORDER.FRM as follows:
COPY ORDER.FRM PRN
then fill it out, and send it to JASCO Technology. Immediately upon
receipt we will send to you the latest production version of Plot
Manager.

INSTALLATION 3
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
To use Plot Manager you need to copy the PLOTMAN.EXE file to
the PC that will be used as the plot server.
Several things need to be done in order to use the Plot Manager
software.
1) Create print queue
2) Create print server
3) Assign print server password
4) Assign print server SERVER rights to queue
5) Assign print server OPERATOR rights to queue
All of these tasks can be done automatically by Plot Manager or
manually using Netware's PCONSOLE utility (except for #5 which can
only be done by Plot Manager).
To configure the Plot Manager software, a supervisor or supervisor
equivalent user must log in on the plot server PC and run the Plot
Manager software. They will be presented with a configuration dialog
box. Once all parameters have been entered, another dialog box will
show the status of the above five settings and give you the option to
perform the tasks which have not already been completed.
After all tasks above have been completed you can exit the Plot
Manager software, log out, and run the Plot Manager again. This time
you will be in operational mode, and Plot Manager will be ready to
service plot jobs!
All done! It's as simple as that!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
OPERATION 4
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
These's really not much to know about the operation of the program.
The user friendly interface is self explanatory.
The main screen provides the following options:
F1 => Help
The F1 key will refer you to this documentation file for more info.
F3 => Delete
The F3 key will delete the currently selected plot job from the queue
F7 => Begin plot
The F7 key will begin sending the currently selected job to the
plotter
F9 => The F9 key will give you information on how to change the
configuration of the Plot Manager software
ESC => Quit
The ESC key will exit the Plot Manager software and return you to DOS
The Plot Manager screen automatically refreshes itself periodically
to show you the current list of plot jobs ready to be serviced. You can
select a plot job by using the up and down arrow keys. Once the desired
plot job has been selected you can use the function keys described above
to perform the desired operation.
While a job is being plotted it can be paused at any time by pressing
the ESC key. In the pause mode you have the following options:
Continue
Resume plotting the current job where you left off
Rewind
Go back to the beginning of the plot job, and prompt to start plotting
again or cancel and keep the job in the queue
Cancel & Save
Cancels the current plot job and leaves it in the queue
Cancel & Delete
Cancels the current plot job and removes it from the queue
After a plot job has completed, you are presented with the option
to leave the plot job in the queue or remove it. By leaving it in the
queue you can easilly plot multiple copies without resending the job to
the queue.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
OPERATION 5
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Plot Manager will send jobs to any plotter with a standard RS-232
serial interface.
When configuring Plot Manager make sure that all communication
settings match those on the plotter, including the handshaking mode.
If the plotter supports it, use hardware handshaking (RTS/CTS), otherwise
use software handshaking (XON/XOFF).
Send your plot jobs to the queue as you would any other print job.
You can use the CAPTURE command to redirect data from an LPT port
to the plot queue, or you can plot to a file and NPRINT the file to
the plot queue. See your Novell manuals for more information on the
CAPTURE and NPRINT commands.
